MORGAN: :But they're more super bad ass rock n'
roll. A case should be made for SOME bands like this, though. Motorhead is far
too important to leave off, and another band who is steeped in rock, but really
metal too (despite what they say) was Mearth from New Paltz, NY. They made a
really metal-tinged album called "LB." on Magadee Records in the 90's. One of
the heaviset things ever commited to tape, slogging, rumbling and mubling about
roaring El Caminos, alchohol and sweaty skateboarding dysentery. Not many
people know about it, but it is badder ass than anything. Just because
something isn't famous doesn't mean it shouldn't be on a best ever list. That's
like if I said "I had great sex", but you didn't know about it and so thought
that getting dry humped by a tablesaw was better love making.

MD003 - CD
mearth are anything but what you would expect from the crunchy, hippie town of
New Paltz, NY. Thundering, driving rhythms and howling vocals make 'lb." a must
have for any fan of Unsane, Jesus Lizard or June of 44. This CD almost captures
the incredible power and melee of mearth's live show. |
