This instrumental trio has evolved to incorporate vastly diverse influences including Jazz, Rock, Psych, Noise, and Ambient. The band features Mark Maloof on guitars and effects, Colin Kohnhorst on bass and Pat. James Longo on drums and percussion. The band is sometimes represented as it's alter ego Project3 which is an expanded version of the trio. Musically, this trio challenges themselves and their audiences, a live Hippopotamus compostion takes on a spontaneous, flowing, transformation. Hippopotamus - Days Disposition MD006 - 7" Hippopotamus love to push their own and their audience's limits with their avant-garde instrumental, jazz influenced sound. This 7" features one of their only songs with vocals. A mainstay of NYC's Knitting Factory, this was their first recording after their debut Grass Records release.
